Usually through Instagram or influencer networks. My content and collaborations are also pretty robust and unique so often times I’m the one pitching brands to hire me. I’ve created several different types of collaborations kits that I can send to brands that demonstrate my abilities, successful brand campaigns I’ve worked on in the past, demographic, as well as following and pricing. Having these set to go ahead of time makes me look more professional and also saves me time when starting the conversation. When they have a whole deck of slides to look through, it makes it easier to hop on the phone and work out details.

That we deserve to be compensated fairly for our time and efforts. A lot of work goes into each post (between conception, planning, execution and marketing) and it’s frustrating to not feel valued.

My camera! I’m a professional photographer so my camera is glued to my hand. I shoot with a Nikon D810 and typically use a fixed 50mm lens. Also Wordpress and Lightroom. Mac computers are the best, in my opinion, for anything creative.

Usually I take into consideration the time it will take to complete the project, the scope of the work, and where the post will be shared. For example: a full blog post complete with original photography that’s shared across all platforms will cost more than just a post on Instagram. Typically a good rule of thumb is $100/ 10k followers in your network to start.

Consistency. The older I get, the more responsibilities I gain. Sometimes life gets in the way of producing content. Currently, I’m trying to up my organization game and get out of my own way so that I can satisfy my creative passions and share them more frequently with my audience.

It can be difficult to stay true to myself when other people seem to be blowing me away with content that follows a cookie cutter form. However, I have to remember that I’m trying to attract a very specific audience and that the right people will see my creativity and resonate with my words and become super engaged, loyal tribe members.

Well I’m biased because I’m a photographer, but photography is the most important thing. I don’t want to see crap photos. If you’re going to call yourself an influencer, you need to invest in yourself and produce clean images. This isn’t 2012.

I’m open to any brands that have a good product and a solid mission. I typically try to work with smaller, niche, local or underground brands as I think they’re cool and deserve the press. That being said, I’ve worked with various large companies in the past and am always open to those opportunities if it’s a good fit for Mass Musings.
